Rebuild Ukraine

Collaborating to rebuild Ukraine

Collaborating across borders to rebuild a war-torn Ukraine. That was on the agenda at the annual conference Rebuild Ukraine. Of course, Begoma attended, and built new partnerships.

In the middle of November, the fifth annual conference Rebuild Ukraine took place in Warsaw, Poland.

The conference is a platform for recovery projects, materials, technologies, equipment and investments required to rebuild Ukraine’s war-torn economy, with emphasis on infrastructure, industry, energy and housing.

As the only Swedish logistics company, Begoma attended through our Managing Director, Henrik Malmberg and Boris Khruslov, the Branch Manager for our Kyiv office.

– The rebuilding of Ukraine has already begun and is ongoing. Both in terms of reconstructing what has been damaged by the Russian invasion and also how to develop Ukraine further, says Henrik Malmberg.

More than 8,000 delegates

For two days, more than 700 companies and 8,000 delegates from all over Europe gathered to discuss ways to rebuild Ukraine in a collaborative way.

It is estimated that the rebuilding will have a total cost of hundreds of billions of dollars. Working together and finding partnerships and common strategies are the keys to success.

– As with all forms of investments in infrastructure, logistics are a natural part of it. With our experience and office in Kyiv, we are well positioned to be an active part in this endeavor. Ukraine has a special place in Begoma’s heart, says Henrik Malmberg.

Since 2022, we have strengthened our presence in Ukraine and acted as a bridge between Ukrainian and Swedish businesses to ensure continuous trade flows. Begoma has also been involved in many humanitarian efforts by transporting a wide range of essential goods to Ukraine.

Sustainable transports

Henrik Malmberg also participated as a panelist, discussing sustainable transports together with prominent figures from large industrial and transportation companies in Europe.

– Having the luxury to think about sustainability during times of invasion might seem strange. But Ukraine is a very large country that works tirelessly with societal development, integration into the EU – and sustainability. There is a big openness to hearing from other European countries about how we work with sustainable solutions. It is a true privilege to be part of this.

Begoma thanks the organizers and all the delegates for two insightful and inspiring days. Next year, we look forward to visiting the conference again, hopefully in Kyiv this time.
