Fresh insights from The Heavy Lift Group’s conference in Kuala Lumpur

How can heavy transports become more efficient and climate friendly? This question was high on the agenda when The Heavy Lift Group gathered members from all around the world for its conference in Kuala Lumpur. As a proud member, Begoma was of course there to take part in this important discussion.

Between 10-13th of November this year, Begoma participated in in the 73^rd conference, arranged by the global network The Heavy Lift Group.

– As the only Swedish member of the organization, we were honored to be part of this year’s insightful event, says Erik Malmberg, Sales & Traffic Director at Begoma.

The conference took place in the capital of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, and gathered members from all around the world to take part in important discussions on how our industry can both become more efficient and decrease our overall climate impact.

Streamlining data around the globe

The Heavy Lift Group consists of companies specializing in heavy transport, with specialties in everything from large-scale industrial project forwarding and crane operations to port operations and vessel chartering, for example.

When it comes to special and project transport, the special type of cargo presents specific challenges to take on when it comes to efficiency and sustainability.

– With fewer alternatives due the nature of what is transported, a big responsibility falls on us as members to always find the most efficient and sustainable solution for our customers, without compromising on the quality of the transport, says Erik Malmberg.

One big step that was discussed during the conference was how to gather and calculate data on the impact of different types of project transport. With a shared, common baseline around the globe, learning from each other and improving becomes all the more achievable.

“Impressed with the power in our network”

During our stay in Kuala Lumpur, we had the chance to speak with member companies from many different countries, share knowledge and get inspired by smart solutions in our industry.
