Begoma forms new business unit for multimodal transports

Begoma solidifies its commitment to sustainability and cost efficient transport solutions. By presenting our new business unit for multimodal transports and welcoming our newest recruit, Nikolas Rowland, as Head of Business Unit Multimodal, we aim to make rail even more accessible to a wider range of customers.

As of today, we are increasing our focus on rail transports. With a new business unit, dedicated to multimodal transports, Begoma bets big and takes further steps to make cost efficient and more climate friendly transports viable for a wider range of customers.

– The rail infrastructure in Europe is doing well, with investments being made in increased maintenance and new improved capacity. We also see an increased demand for rail transports from many of our customers. Taking this step for Begoma is a strategically wise move and we are excited to offer these services to our customers, says Henrik Malmberg.

The new multimodal unit has one main purpose – to use rail as the mode of transport to the highest extent possible. First up is Swedish export of timber and forest products to European markets, with plans to expand the service to more markets and industries.

Through smart reloading and cross-docking from other modes of transport at Begoma’s hub in Malmö, this new service will make rail transport more accessible to both sending and receiving companies that previously saw conventional road transports as the most efficient option.

New recruit: Head of Business Unit Multimodal

Spearheading this new business unit will be Begoma’s new recruit, Nikolas Rowland, as Head of Business Unit Multimodal.

– This opportunity is 100 percent in line with my expertise and previous commitments. Begoma’s commitment to sustainability and cost efficient transport solutions goes hand in hand with offering more multimodal means of transportation. I am excited to get going, says Nikolas Rowland.

During the spring of 2025 Begoma adopted its very first sustainability strategy and pledged to cut our CO2 emissions from road transports in half by 2030. Increasing our focus on rail transport further solidifies our sustainability commitment.

Managing Director, Henrik Malmberg, says he is excited to welcome Nikolas Rowland to the growing Begoma family.

– Nikolas Rowland is the perfect fit for Begoma and our new multimodal services. His background and experience in building rail operations from the ground up, paired with an extensive network of suppliers and customers, are great assets for us. Welcome, Nikolas!
