Fehmarn Belt Tunnel
The Fehmarn Belt Tunnel is poised to become one of Europe’s most remarkable engineering achievements. Scheduled for completion in 2029, this 18-kilometer underwater tunnel will link Germany and Denmark beneath the Baltic Sea.
Once operational, it is expected to cut travel time between the two countries to just 10 minutes by car or train, fostering economic and cultural ties in the region. The trip between Copenhagen and Hamburg will take less than 3 hours compared to today’s more than 4 hours.
Europe’s Rail Program
Europe’s Rail is an ambitious research and innovation program aiming to revolutionize the European rail network. The program focuses on creating a high-capacity, multimodal, and reliable railway system by integrating cutting-edge technology and promoting seamless interoperability across borders.
This initiative is a key element in Europe’s push for greener and more efficient transport solutions.
Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T)
The TEN-T initiative is an EU-led effort to establish a comprehensive, multimodal transport network across Europe. The project includes roads, railways, ports, and airports, creating seamless connectivity between EU member states and beyond.
With a goal to complete its core network by 2030 and the comprehensive network by 2050, TEN-T aims to reduce bottlenecks, improve sustainability, and enhance accessibility throughout the continent.
Rail Baltica
Rail Baltica stands as one of Europe’s largest and most strategic infrastructure undertakings. This high-speed rail project will connect Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania to the wider European railway network.
As of now, significant progress has been made, including the advancement of procurement processes for the Estonian section of the railway. When completed, Rail Baltica will not only boost regional connectivity but also strengthen Europe’s North-South transport corridor.
