Begoma welcomes outside scrutiny by EcoVadis
Begoma welcomes outside assessment of our sustainability work. A higher rating than more than half the reviewed companies by EcoVadis, with plenty of room to grow. Through external assessments we can improve our work even further.
Last year, Begoma adopted our very first sustainability strategy, setting out an ambitious goal to reduce the CO2 emissions from our road transport by 50 percent by 2030.
A part of our strategy is to be reviewed and assessed by third party organs. With an overall score of 57 out of 100 by EcoVadis, the global leading provider of business sustainability ratings, we get outside perspective on where to improve and increase our transparency towards our customers.
– We appreciate external scrutiny and always strive to do better. Sustainability is an important part of our business and by letting EcoVadis review our work we can improve in several ways, says Fredrik Malmberg, Deputy Managing Director at Begoma.
Begoma follows through
According to EcoVadis, some of Begoma’s most prominent strengths lie in our actions to support our sustainability policies and commitments. In other words, we follow through on our commitments and goals.
– This is in line with our own assessment of our sustainability work. We are daring and don’t hesitate to launch initiatives that we actively work with over time. The next step is to improve our documentation and reporting, says Fredrik Malmberg.
Ecovadis specifically identifies the following three areas as examples of our strengths: reduction of carbon emissions in transportation; training of employees on energy conservation/climate actions; and the use of logistics/load optimization software and/or procedure to improve efficiency.
Reporting and sustainable procurements, however, EcoVadis identifies as areas of improvement for Begoma.
Next review by EcoVadis is coming this autumn and by then, Fredrik Malmberg hopes for an even higher score for Begoma.
– We are working on the areas that EcoVadis identified and aim to improve, he says.
