The power of piecing together

Staying ahead of the curve and foreseeing the customer’s needs has always been a winning strategy in business. In the transportation and logistics sector – this everlasting truth has become even more relevant in the past decade, due to new regulatory requirements regarding sustainability. Piecing together more climate friendly solutions for customers that need it is one of Begoma’s main focuses in 2024.

There is no denying that businesses revolve around profit. Making unprofitable decisions time and time again rarely results in any other way than failure for companies. When all is said and done – a company that fails to make a profit will not stand the test of time.

What constitutes a profitable decision when it comes to logistics and transportation often boils down to the most cost-efficient solutions. However, the times they are a-changing.

– The cheapest alternative might prove to be the most expensive, in the long run, says Mats Prütz, Sales Representative at Begoma.

Plenty of Begoma’s customers must adhere to regulatory requirements from EU regarding sustainability. Many of them also have internal environmental and climate policies as well as an ever-increasing demand from customers to make more conscious business decisions for the climate.

In this new reality, finding new and creative ways to piece together logistics and transportation solutions with a lower climate impact is a high priority.

How we do it

To achieve this, Begoma works with several different solutions and partners in many different countries. The aim is to present alternatives to the way business has been done in the past.

– The needs of the customer always come first. Drawing from it, we can look at alternatives such as rail, intermodal transports or short sea solutions. Piecing together different modes of transportation to achieve a lower climate impact for our customers is one of Begoma’s strengths, says Mats Prütz.

One of the challenges in piecing together these solutions is the fragmentation in Europe regarding technical advancements that allow for more climate friendly modes of transports to be viable. Some countries have come far – others not as much.

– Finding new ways and partners in these countries is what we offer our customers. We have both the experience and know-how to achieve it on their behalf. This is what Begoma is all about, says Mats Prütz.
