Freight rate: why the lowest price is not always the lowest total cost

A low freight rate will always be attractive. But in transport, the lowest price on paper does not always lead to the lowest total cost. Here is why.

Delays, unclear status updates, unsuitable routes, extra handling and weak planning can all create costs that are not visible in the initial offer. That is why transport buyers need to look at the full picture – not only the freight rate.

When a shipment is moving, clear information matters. If the customer does not know where the goods are, whether something has changed or when delivery can be expected, internal planning becomes harder.
