Meet Bill Mashata, Begoma’s General Manager in Zambia

Bill Mashata is the head of Begoma’s operations in Zambia. He has a double degree in Business Administration and Project Management.

Mr Mashata got his first introduction to the transport and logistics industry when he was employed by Zambia Railways Limited, where he worked in both operations and commercial before joining the business department. There, he was the Business and Marketing Representative for the Copperbelt region coordinating all business transactions with the mines on behalf of the railway company. This gave him exposure and insight into bulk commodity handling and transportation.

Bill then joined the logistics and freight forwarding industry, working for a company called Boss Logistics as a regional manager for the Copperbelt. In this role, he oversaw the company’s day-to-day warehousing, transport, and logistics activities. Additionally, he coordinated a multi-modal transportation system for commodities—mainly metal exports and imports of mining-related goods.

After that, he took on a similar role at Access Freight, another logistics company, where he served as deputy country manager with responsibilities mirroring those at Boss Logistics. In 2010, he transitioned fully into road transport, operating his own fleet of trucks. Finally, he became part of the Begoma team in September 2022.

In his free time, Bill Mashata enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. He also likes to watch movies and documentaries about Africa. He is a devout Christian and is passionate about his charity work through his church, which supports retirement homes, orphanages, hospitals, and prisons.
