A rail-based import setup from Europe to Sweden

We are currently building a rail-based import setup from Europe to Sweden. Cargo is consolidated at selected terminals across Europe, transported on conventional rail, and then distributed to final destinations in Sweden. The first established flows connect both Modena in Italy and central Germany with Sweden, with additional hubs planned as the system expands.

The setup is designed as a repeatable import flow rather than a one-off solution. It is suited for shipments where stable schedules, higher capacity and predictable lead times support long-term planning and scalable volumes.

When to choose rail import

Rail imports become effective when transitions are controlled. That is why the setup is supported end to end, including collection and distribution, terminal handling and storage solutions when required. This helps reduce complexity in handovers and keeps the flow consistent as volumes grow.

The hub in Malmö plays a central role, enabling smooth transfers from the rail leg into Swedish distribution. Combined with rail’s lower climate impact compared to road transport, the setup supports both operational stability and more climate-conscious imports.
