Meet Hampus Magnusson, Operations Manager in Gothenburg

Hampus Magnusson started his career as a sailor in the navy. After three years at sea and a sabbatical year that took him almost all over the world, he studied at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, eventually earning a bachelor’s degree in shipping and logistics and a master’s degree in communication. Hampus’ background and education are a perfect foundation for the position of Operations Manager at Begoma’s office in Gothenburg.

Prior to joining Begoma, Hampus held positions as a shipping agent at Stora Enso and a shipbroker at Scandinavian Shipping.

— When a position at Begoma came up, I was keen to try something new. The range of assignments Begoma handles is exciting. You get an overall picture of the transport industry, and there are good opportunities for personal development, says Hampus.

The role of Operations Manager means that you have to find the best solutions to be able to give quick responses to both customers and suppliers. The work is varied and flexible.

— My most important role is to make things work, which makes the job feel so meaningful. I feel like I’m making a difference every day. The transport industry is rewarding in that way; you get an immediate response of what works and what doesn’t.

Begoma’s office in Gothenburg is a small team that works closely together. However, the idea is that Hampus will mainly handle sea and air freight.

In his spare time, Hampus and his girlfriend spend time with family and friends over something good to eat and drink. He also enjoys travelling and going to concerts, and if he has some time to spare, he likes to take a trip on his boat.
