At Begoma, we are committed to providing our customers with transparent and detailed climate data related to our transportation services. In line with the European Union’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), we offer monthly reports that detail the climate emissions generated by our transports, down to the order level.
This initiative not only assists our clients in meeting their sustainability reporting requirements but also enables them to identify areas within their transport chain that can be optimized to further reduce their environmental impact.
By partnering with Begoma, customers gain access to comprehensive climate data at no additional cost, underscoring our dedication to environmental responsibility and support for our clients’ sustainability goals.
Where can I find my climate data?
Our customers will find a report attached to our monthly newsletter that is sent on the 4th of each month. The report consists of climate data, pertaining to transports made during the previous month.
How does Begoma calculate climate data?
The emissions from our transports are calculated in several steps. First, we find the coordinates for the loading and unloading cities, using Google Maps. When calculating the distance between these coordinates we use Great Circle formula – to cover all our modes of transport, including overseas transports.
For each transport mode and supplier, we use a CO2 emission coefficient, taken from a study presented by The European Environment Agency. The study is done by Fraunhofer-Institute for Systems and Innovation Research ISI, CE Delft and Ramboll. You can find it here.
The calculation for the total CO2 from a transport is done by using this formula:
- [Total CO2e] = [Total weight (ton] * [Number of km] * [CO2-emission coefficient]
