Begoma’s finance department

25 november, 2022

Begoma’s finance department is based out of the head office in Malmö. From here, the company handles all their transactions with customers and suppliers worldwide. Financial Director Björn Planell says that a challenge for our logistics sector is offering resource-efficient transport to our customers. The returning clientele and new customers are excellent proof of Begoma’s success in meeting customers’ expectations of a transport and logistics company that continuously delivers quality services.

The financial department is divided into two offices. In addition to Björn Planell, Annette Sandqvist, the Controller, and Kairi Prei, the Financial Administrator, work at the head office in Malmö. The entirety of Begoma Group’s finances is managed from here, which in addition to the freight forwarding company, also includes five other companies in Sweden and four companies abroad. The Czech office in Týniště Nad Orlicí, Czech Republic, is also a back-office staffed by Stanislava Franova and Mariia Tkachuk, who are both Financial Assistants and responsible for processing the company’s supplier invoices and administration of missing CMRs.

Begoma is also present in Poland, Czech Republic, The Netherlands, Zambia, and soon also in Ukraine. In these countries, external accounting firms manage the accounting, salaries, tax reporting etc.; however, all finance control and payments are still made from the Swedish head office.

The company’s international presence occasionally creates challenges when customers in different countries require different credit times in contrast to carriers who would like to receive their payment within 30 days. This affects liquidity, and for some companies, this can certainly cause problems, particularly at the end of each month, explains Björn Planell and continues:

– Thanks to Begoma’s large customer base and continued establishment in the market, we have the flexibility to offer other countries extended credit periods longer than the standard 30-day period that is common in Sweden. Credit time is clearly stipulated in all contracts concluded and managed by Begoma’s sales reps. It’s crucial to maintain the margins on each completed transport to ensure that the transports are profitable for both the customer and Begoma.

Björn Planell emphasises that both managing timely payments from customers and paying suppliers on time are equally important. The company’s reliability, elevated quality, and focus on excellent service continue to give Begoma high customer satisfaction year after year.
