Josefin Gorthe Skafar joins Begoma as Group CFO
Josefin Gorthe Skafar has joined Begoma as Group CFO. She brings experience from finance, business development and the transport industry. From the business world, via the Port of Helsingborg, she has a clear view of what finance should contribute: better decisions, simpler ways of working and a closer connection to the business.
Josefin most recently served as CFO at the Port of Helsingborg. Earlier in her career, she established and led Mpya Finance in Helsingborg, where she built the business from the ground up, recruited the team and developed customer relationships.
That experience also gave her a taste for entrepreneurial environments. And when it came to choosing Begoma, gut feeling played a part too.
– I work with facts and analysis every day, but I also believe in gut feeling. I felt it when I met the people at Begoma. The company is quite fearless, and the people here want to make things happen. There is room to influence and move quickly. That appealed to me, she says.
“I like to keep things simple”
Josefin describes her own approach to the work as CFO as simple: finance should help the business make better decisions. In turn, by finding ways to increase margins and profitability and streamline processes, the company itself becomes more sustainable.
– I like to keep things simple. Good reporting and good analysis don’t have to be complicated. We should focus on what really matters and make it easy for people to understand and act on the information. Finance should help the business make better decisions, not just report what happened, she says.
By staying close to the operational side of the company and understanding the day-to-day work of Begoma’s employees and contractors, she believes her role can support the company in a productive way.
– What drives me is the combination of business, people and development. That is what makes this role so interesting to me.
Less manual work, more time for analysis
A part of Josefin’s responsibilities will be to have a greater focus on Begoma’s subsidiary companies.
Other areas that Josefin will pay extra attention to are digitalization and automation.
– We should always ask if there is a better or simpler way to do something. Are we using the systems we already have? Can we automate something that is still being done manually? If we can reduce manual work and use our systems and data in a smarter way, we can spend more time on analysis and supporting the business, she says.
Welcome, Josefin!
