A successful machinery transport starts before the truck arrives
Many working machines are built for the job, not for longer journeys on public roads. When a machine has to move from one site to another, a truck usually takes over, and that calls for machinery transport.
Machinery transport applies to everything from forestry machines and cranes to CNC machines, hydraulic presses and other heavy industrial equipment. These machines look different and do very different work, but they have one thing in common: machinery transport takes more planning than ordinary freight. Much of that work is done long before the truck pulls up.
Choosing the right machinery transport
Size, weight and design decide the type of transport needed. Some machines travel on a standard trailer, others require a machine trailer, a low-loader or a ramp for loading and unloading. For self-propelled construction and agricultural machines, a ramp makes loading and unloading easier. For the largest loads, purpose-built vehicles are needed, and Begoma arranges machinery transport for loads that can exceed 100 tonnes.
Choosing a vehicle that can carry the weight is only part of it. How the machine is loaded and unloaded, its dimensions and the conditions along the route all shape the right solution.
When a machinery transport needs more planning
The heavier the machine, the more has to be in place before departure. In Sweden, a special transport permit from the road authority is required as soon as a load exceeds the permitted dimensions or weight, and the heaviest and widest transports may call for route planning and escort vehicles. Load securing and weight distribution are matched to the machine so it stays stable throughout the journey. If it contains fuel or hydraulic fluids, Begoma is also qualified for ADR transports.
For international moves, customs clearance, documentation and local rules come into play. Begoma arranges machinery transport across our markets in Europe and globally, coordinating the whole way from collection to final destination.

Much is already done when the truck arrives
When a machinery transport runs smoothly, it is the drive itself that shows most. Behind it lies the work of choosing the trailer, loading, securing the load, permits and the route. The more that is planned in advance, the better the odds that the rest of the transport goes smoothly.
